E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK - Finished

Evening everyone!

So after a few last minutes changes and getting the commander painted, my E-100 Krokodil is now officially finished. The first go around with the pigmets and mud I wasn't completely satisfied, but Rubén Torregrosa (aka "HeresyBrush) suggested I tried sprinkling some enamel washes on the pigmets to create more nuances of colors, and I really think it did the trick, like it a lot better now.

Since this is meant for wargaming it kinda needed some varnish, but pigments and varnish don't go hand in hand very well, so in the future I might consider my pigment use more, probably just do the tracks. But I'll take that up for consideration for my next build.

I don't really know how much time I've spent painting this tank, it has taken several weeks but since I haven't been able to sit down for several hours a day, my estimate would probably be around 10 hours of actual painting.

Anyway I had a blast building and painting this beast of a tank, it isn't the last time I buy tanks from Heer46, and even though these tanks don't have rules in Flames of War (yet hopefully!) I can't see why you couldn't proxy this as a Jagdpanther or Jagdtiger.

My next build will probably be the rest of my Open Fire shermans was are long overdue! then afterwards I'm doing a Panther G in 1/35 scale for an Armorama campaign which I'm very much looking forward to.

Picture time!

I think this build turned out great, even though it's a very simple camo scheme I think the colour modulation really worked well. As usual comments and suggestions are more than welcome!

Until next time

Chris

As usual a little comparison photo, this tank is quite big for 1/100 scale

E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK - Details + Tracks

Hello everyone

Short update!

I forgot to make a post yesterday, but better late than never! I've been finished the last few details on my Krokodil, mainly the tracks and all the tools.

Nothing really fancy here worth describing, at least not the tools etc.

The tracks I started by painting them Track primer from Vallejo, then a gunmetal drybrush and in the end a wash of Track Wash from Ammo of Mig. When all this had dried I used some rust pigtems mixed with thinner to give the tracks another wash. I'm going to give them more earth pigments later, so this won't really be that visible to be honest, but you could easily stop here, the rust dries great :)

Paint the rest of the tools etc. however you want, I prefer to paint my tools using grey colours because gunmetal just doesn't look right to be in this scale (I might just be werid ^^).

I have actually been working more today and kinda finished the tank (still need to paint the commander), but pictures will be up some other time soon :)

E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK - Chipping

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I managed to sit down and get some work done. This time around I have been working on some further weathering of the vehicle.

Using a combination of brushes and sponges I started with Vallejo "Iraqi Sand" for the light chips and scratches. Afterwards I went over  most of the light chips with chipping colour from AK also making a few new ones in the process.
Overall I quite happy with the result of this chipping session, some places could have been better, no doubt about that, but overall, meh not bad :-p

In the end I went over the entire vehicle adding some rust streaks, from some of the more prominent chips and scratches. I also added about of rust around hatches and such. I can't decide if I went a bit overboard with this step, but I still think it looks quite good to be honest.

Next up are the detail painting and tracks.

E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK - Pin Wash

Hello everyone

Just another small update this time, I haven't really had the time to sit down and get a lot of work done this week, so the updates will be coming bare rapidly but with less progress :-p

And since I'm going to a wedding this weekend, I probably won't have to time to get anymore work done.... sigh, ah well free bar ^^

Anyways! this time around I just pin washed my Krokodil using the Nato Camouflage Wash from Ammo of Mig, just painting it in recesses and around hatches etc. Then after roughly an hour I went back and only using some enamel thinner I removed the excess wash and did a bit of streaks some places (Not a lot this time around, if you go back and look at my Panther posts, you can see what I mean).

I have played around with some more washes, doing some streaks, but no pictures yet. Will probably start doing some chipping next.

So stay tuned for that :)

Chris

*Since some people one Facebook initially believed I was painting a hovercraft, I've made sure to take some pictures showing the tracks as well ;-)

E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK - Corrections & Decals

Hello everyone

As I mentioned in my previous post I wasn't quite satisfied with the modulation on my Krokodil, so I've tried to spice it up slightly and I like it a lot better now. Beside the modulation I have also added the decals so now it's basically ready for weathering and detail painting :-D

Stay tuned

Chris

E-100 Krokodil - Heer46 - E100JK

Hello everyone!

So I spent most of my day today teaching a friend of mine how to paint with an airbrush, since he had just purchased one. So I thought I'd might as well just start painting my awesome Krokodil from Heer46.

This kit is simply awesome, the cast is beautiful and everything just looks great and fits together perfectly. I sadly just noticed I have forgotten to remove some flash from the front headlight....which is quite annoying, but will probably fix during my next painting session.

Painting

So basically same procedure as last time. Primer first, then the Dunkelgelb, varnish, mask, paint camo, varnish. Then I masked of some parts to spice up the model a bit more and painted them brown/rusty'ish, then the last layer of varnish of the day.

I feel like the modulation could have needed a few more highlights, both the dunkelgelb and the green camo. Ah well this was done rather quickly while talking with my mate and showing him stuff.

Day 1 result

The result after a days work. As mentioned earlier the headlight still has some left over resin attached to it....which I know I can't live with and have to fix at some point.....
The modulation could have been more interesting, a few more highlights wouldn't have hurt it, otherwise very happy with my progress.

Well that's it for now! hopefully I will get some more work done tomorrow unless I decide to paint on my Deathstroke instead :)

Until then.

Chris
